Here at Calvary East we are convinced that the Gospel is powerful.

The Apostle Paul says:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16)

The Gospel is the power of God to save and change people’s lives for now and eternity. Paul wasn’t ashamed and we’re unashamed because we have personally been changed and can attest to the power of this reality. The Gospel is God’s prescription to the human problem of sin. Sin separates us from God and makes us objects of His just wrath. But in love He looks down on His enemies and objects of His wrath with love and offers grace and forgiveness. He did this not by looking over sin, but by placing the punishment we deserved on the person that He loved the most, His son Jesus. Jesus voluntarily put himself between us and the wrath of His Father and was treated like the worst rebel and sinner. And when we repent and obey Him, God puts His love and redemption on display in Us.

Our Outreach ministry seeks to instruct and equip Calvary East church members in the obedient and joyful pursuit of that Great Commission (cf. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8) by taking the Gospel to our community.

Our philosophy of ministry regarding evangelism is as follows. Biblical evangelism is:

  1. God-centered rather than man-centered,
  2. Theology-driven rather than method-driven,
  3. Discipleship-oriented rather than decision-oriented, and
  4. Time-redeeming.
